We are honored to have Rep. Mike Quigley celebrate the mural dedication event with us at the Rizal Center on June 13, 2025

I got to join Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth - The 48th Ward in seeing the Rizal Center's new mural.

Led by Aurora artist Michael Del Valle with help from the Sinag Chicago Art team, this art installation celebrates our Filipino community by honoring the Filipino American veterans, domestic workers, postal workers, teachers, and medical professionals who have helped build our city.

Congratulations to Rizal Center and Sinag headed by Michael Del Valle and Larry Leopoldo for a very successful Rizal Mural Dedication event on June 13, 2025 in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. We would like to thank Philippine Consulate General in Chicago representative Consul Melvin Almonguerra and Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth for gracing the affair. We also like to thank the Rizal Center Board Members, the Sinag muralists, art exhibition artists, event performers and speakers, and those who came to help make this a success. This mural was sponsored through the grants by Ignite Fund and Illinois Arts Council

You can catch Sinag at the Umbrella Art Festival this Saturday 12-5pm in Downtown Evanston by the Fountain Square area. We are in booths 37 & 38! Here are the Sinag members who will be there:
Maggie : selling recycled cards, magnets and pins from paper waste
Marissa : selling stickers, buttons, prints, and charms of fan favorite tv shows and video games Christian : sells a variety of cartoon and anime-inspired prints, stickers, and buttons.
Set : Ceramics: sculptures, pendants, magnets Arianna : is a Filipina-American printmaker who creates original risograph prints, art books, greeting cards, and stickers.
Marea : hand cut framed artwork, greeting cards, and stickers.
Geri : selling Tagalog and Cebuano coloring books, displaying commissioned portrait samples

Join us for our Rizal Center Mural Dedication in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. Get to know the Sinag volunteers behind the mural! Other activities include art exhibit of Filipino-American artists based in Chicago, Jose Rizal exhibit, artist talk, poetry reading, live music, mural timelapse video, and a self-guided tour of the community center. The Rizal Center Mural is sponsored by Ignite Fund and Illinois Arts Council. Sinag is a Filipino-American art collective of artists in Chicago and Greater Chicago.
