Valerie Campos’ most recent works exhibited in M5 CONTEMPO Gallery in Oaxaca, ANALOGÍAS— reveal an artist who breaks with abstraction towards a painting of objects and treacherous visual rhythms.
These processes speak of a struggle with the fundamental question of painting: the creation of images and what the simple act of painting can express.

The caustic banality of Valerie Campos’ work lies in the fact on how they conceal nothing, perhaps a claustrophobic impulse from her early works and her need to erase them all. Start from scratch, with the same curiosity as at the beginning, but without innocence. All these acquired skills in the process from abstraction to realism and viceversa are now used in this parody purpose. Cartoonish representations of anthropomorphic figures emerging from a kind of pre-Hispanic o**y. Campos manages to balance her erotic energy in bursts of thick paint brush strokes, repetitive lines and waves that invite the viewer’s eye to dance on the canvas.👉🏽 https://youtu.be/pIncIdlndtE?si=2S8pJKY5siRkJteV

Endy Hupperich’s versality and vast technical experimentation amplifies the distortions and insinuations of the media language by generating a type of painting that escapes any categorization.

Rubén Torres Llorca
Havana, 1957

Rubén Torres Llorca is a Cuban artist specializing in painting, drawing, sculpture, collages, and photography. He graduated from the San Alejandro Art Academy in 1976 and from the Instituto Superior de Arte in 1981. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions and biennials, and is part of important private collections. and public. Torres Llorca lived briefly in Mexico City from 1990 to 1993.

One of the central axes of Torres Llorca’s work is the conception of memory: manipulating historical and sociological matter in a fictional way, he constitutes a mythical construction enterprise whose origin — is the totalitarian culture in which he was raised. His work assigns to art the mission of transforming the meaning of language and concepts: he is interested in the formation of these attempts to express thought as something plastic.

Valerie explores the liminal space between the conscious and unconscious worlds, striking a balance between chaos and order; two complementary approaches to life. Her raw style explores complex impulses ranging from the individual to the collective, with the play of chance as a starting point.

She continues her exploration of abstract forms applied within the composition through conscious architectural marks to convey a sense of timelessness, playing with the viewer's subconscious on emotional, visual and physical levels. Campos uses horizontal and vertical lines to expose an invisible grid that translates three-In her work, the artist applies thick brushstrokes of vivid tones that combine historical art references, from ancient to modern sculptures, geometric shapes or pre-Hispanic elements as universal symbols.

Her most recent works are part of her non-figurative repertoire, whose fascination lies in the various layers of lines. It seems that the resonances of her earlier series have been rediscovered. Polysemy emerges through incessant metamorphoses, which play with the body, the fusion of symbols and space. Consistent and elusive forms created from the concurrence of depth and surface, rhythms that emerge as memories of an absent place, only to immediately disappear again.

Valerie lives and works in Mexico City.
