Statement of solidarity:

Hyenas in Petticoats Entertainment stands in unwavering support of the joint efforts of the WGA, SAG-AFTRA, Teamsters, IATSE, and DGA calling for fair, future-facing contracts that respect and value every worker's skills and safety, on and off the screen. Although our little indie company is not yet a signatory of any union, we wholeheartedly acknowledge and sincerely appreciate that pre-union eligible workers and projects benefit from the hard work of the unions and the standards they set for the industry. In solidarity, we are observing the guidelines of the strikes, including no meetings, no pitches, no submissions, no reading for contests that funnel to signatories, and no crossing picket lines under any circumstance. We encourage our small network to join the picket lines, share updates on social media, and check on each other as we weather this together.

Team Hyenas

In solidarity.

Well deserved!

Exciting news! The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media will receive the Governors Award at this year’s Emmys!

The award bestowed by the Emmys / Television Academy honors an individual, company or organization that has made a profound, transformational and long-lasting contribution to the arts and/or science of television.

We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to systemically drive diversity, equity and inclusion onscreen.

Geena Davis, our founder and chair, reacted to Monday's announcement by saying: “We are incredibly honored to receive this award from the Board of Governors in recognition of our work. We know that in many sectors of our society true gender equality may take many years to achieve, but there’s one space where parity can be reached virtually overnight: on screen.”

“Seeing oneself reflected in popular culture is enormously powerful,’” said Madeline Di Nonno, president and CEO of the Institute. "As we say, ‘If they can see it, they can be it.’”

The Geena Davis Institute will receive the award during the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC this Sept. 12.
