RIP Tilly... crazy to think that we wrote a musical based on your experience...

BREAKING: After 33 years in captivity, Tilikum — who was the subject of Blackfish — has died.

SeaWorld's announcement that it is ending its orca-breeding program came too late for Tilikum, who was bred 21 times — and 11 of his offspring died before him. He should be the last orca to die in misery at a SeaWorld amusement park.

He died without ever again knowing freedom. He never got to feel the ocean currents or see his family again. RIP Tilikum. You're finally free.

Hello Friends of Blackfish The Musical -

First and foremost, THANK YOU so much for your donations!! We are beyond appreciative and humbled by your support.

We are writing this message to say that we'll be throwing in the towel and will not be able to perform at Superpod. Unfortunately, with a cast of 14 and travel/lodging arrangements being more excessively expensive than the cast can handle, we've realistically decided to forego our performance at the whale gathering. We're super bummed, but as artists we understand how this goes.....

We will be refunding all your donations in full, which you should receive in a few days.

Luckily, the organizers of Superpod will still be showing a video version of our entire musical and can hopefully stir the pot to get our production back on it's feet next year!

And lastly, as a mark that we're not done just yet, we've just received a Runner-Up Award for Best Musical in Chicago Reader's Best of issue! Only 2nd place to Book of Mormon, which actually helped inspire us, so we're in great company!
