Wyoming Creative MediaPlex in Lincoln Court

Wyoming Creative MediaPlex in Lincoln Court New Creative Economy primary job creation! We're proposing the concept as a potential "tenant" in the Lincoln Court Urban Mixed Use Intentional Community.

The Wyoming Creative MediaPlex (MediaPlex) provides an open workspace, hourly offices and conference rooms, a diverse and supportive creative community, a private social network. The project is planned for the West End of Cheyenne on land formerly the home of the Lincoln Court motel. It’s not a question of whether the MediaPlex can help you succeed. It’s just a question of whether you’re ready to

get started. The Lincoln Court project uses creativity and arts as an overlay to the affordable and market rate housing, cohousing and supportive businesses. The project plans for office and studio spaces, gallery and performance / screening venues. Expanding primary jobs in a community happens down three roads - chasing smokestacks from other places, growing existing businesses and nurturing new ideas. Primary jobs in the New Creative Economy will likely grow from entrepreneurs nurturing new ideas and new products, but will happen not in traditional factories. Rather than innovation happening in the garage, it will happen in spaces like the MediaPlex. The MediaPlex facilitates a style of work that involves a shared working environment of open work spaces and independent activity. Unlike in a typical office environment, those co-working are usually not employed by the same organization. The MediaPlex should be attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation. The MediaPlex is also the social gathering of a group of people who still work independently, but share values, and interested in the synergy that happens from working with like-minded talented people in the same space. Be a Member
Members are the core of the MediaPlex community. They make decisions that impact the space, have more tools and resources available to them than the general public, and have access to a private social network that helps them connect with other members. Who are MediaPlex members? Artists, engineers, musicians, mathematicians, programmers, graphic designers, app developers, medical device inventors and even the occasional rocket scientist. These are the kinds of people who you surround yourself with at the MediaPlex. One of the most important things available to members isn’t the 24/7 access, the super fast and reliable network, or even being able to reserve offices and conference rooms – it’s the social network we’re designing to make it easier for members to connect. Using our social network members can find each other by skill, interest, past accomplishments, and more. it’s a social network that enhances your life and increases your opportunities to live life to the fullest. Events
The MediaPlex isn’t just a place – it’s a community. We frequently get together for workshops, happy hours, supper clubs, coworking, and volunteering.

The Wyoming Creative MediaPlex idea is still a sound one, with coworking spaces popping up most recently above the Paramount on Capitol Avenue. The Hynds Building has a new owner and it will soon be occupied.

The Wyoming Creative MediaPlex is planning to be a part of the Lincoln Court project on the West End of Cheyenne as a creative over lay to mixed use urban intentional community envisioned on the Back 40 Subdivision.

The Lincoln Court redux is planned to be affordable and market rate housing, cohousing, supportive retail businesses. The mixed use development will include common spaces for exhibition, screenings, performance, creative studio space, work space for creative entrepreneurs.

We're talking about "Creative Density". It's part of the exciting global co-working movement that is providing an active community and an innovative physical infrastructure for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote workers in the 21st century.

Stop working alone in the home office and coffee shops and start sharing ideas and being inspired by the smart and awesome people around you.

What's next? It's pretty clear that the local economic development groups don't have many leads for primary job creation in the urban core. We're putting out feelers for people wanting to expand their business out of their home or give those who have jobs but want a place to nurture their ideas. If you are interested or know of someone looking, we're putting the core group together now. Could be we hold a social event.

Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President Dale Steenbergen wrote a great piece for the November newsletter about the importance of small business as an economic driver. This is exactly the vision behind the Wyoming Creative MediaPlex envisioned by Wyoming Community Media for The Historic Hynds Building Capitol Core project.
