🏛️ 31 Days of Giving

The Garfield Center is more than a performance venue. It's a gathering place where stories, creativity, and community come together.

Taking care of a historic building is no easy feat. On average it costs the theatre $2,400 for a month of utilities.

Here's a photo from one of our open mic nights, a full house!

Thank you for helping preserve and sustain this special space.

Lights. Sound. Effects.

Today's the day! Rocky Horror opens tonight and packs a punch in terms of lighting and atmospheric effects. How does that happen you might wonder?

Technical theatre professionals and volunteers create the atmosphere that transforms a performance into an unforgettable experience.

Today we celebrate the people behind the control booth.

Here's a photo without any effects or lights in place. Can you spot it during the show and see what the finished product looks like?

🎉 31 Days of Giving

We're halfway through our campaign!

Thank you for following along, sharing stories, and supporting the Garfield Center.

Together, we're building a stronger future for the arts.

Today's story comes from Rich & Rosemary. They found us by accident. They were strolling through Chestertown, and Rosemary noticed the Garfield. They walked in. Someone showed them the theater and, hearing that Rich was a writer, told him about the Live Playwrights' Society. He went to the very next meeting. He has since had plays staged here and played his own songs at our open mics.

They drive 100 miles to get to us in order to reach their artistic home.
