Senior Spotlight! As the year draws to a close, we'd like to recognize all our fantastic seniors and their hard work.
Natalie "Nat" Schirmer plays Viola and says she loves being a part of a group that makes music. She spent one year in Concert Orchestra before transitioning to Chamber Orchestra in 10th grade. Nat also has taken advantage of many music making opportunities outside of class, participating in CRO, Solo/ensemble (earning a superior rating), and SRO twice. She was proud to get the chance to conduct the Chamber Orchestra at the spring concert. Nat says that Orchestra taught her discipline and thoughtfulness in ways that no other group could have.
After high school, Nat is planning to attend VCU to earn a degree in Forensic Science with a concentration in Forensic Biology. Nat plans to be the next Abby Sciuto from the NCIS series. We wish her the best of luck in all her future plans!

Sophia Reyes participated in Orchestra during all four years of high school as a violinist. She has fond memories of events at Longwood University and West Virginia University that she participated in thanks to Orchestra. Sophia says that being in orchestra helped her grow as a person and opened her up to music. After high school, Sophia plans to major in psychology at VCU and looks forward to traveling the world. We wish good luck to Sophia in all her future endeavors.

Madi Johnson began playing the cello at EDMS. She played with the Concert Orchestra at Dale for three years before joining Chamber Orchestra for her senior year. Madi is happy for all the friends she has made through orchestra and the good memories. She feels that being in Orchestra has taught her a great deal about teamwork. Madi adds that practicing an instrument is good for the brain, and she is thankful that orchestra taught her the importance of this skill.
After high school, Madi is planning to spend a few years at Brightpoint before transferring to VCU to study criminology and forensics. We wish Madi all the best!

Senior Spotlight! As the year draws to a close, we'd like to recognize all our fantastic seniors and their hard work.
Javier Guerro is a violinist, and chocolate-selling machine! He has been playing violin since 6th grade, participating in Concert Orchestra all four years of high school. Javier loves how playing an instrument can show musicians how hard work pays off. He notices the direct relationship between practice and growth as a musician. Javier also worked hard during our chocolate sale, selling the most boxes of chocolate of any student! We appreciate his hard work on our behalf, both with his instrument and his salesmanship.
After high school, Javier plans to attend a trade school to learn Industrial Management. He hopes to continue to play violin in his free time. We wish Javier all the best in his future endeavors!
