📢 Important Closure Notice 📢

The Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. Please visit us on the web for information on upcoming events.

We will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, June 23rd, from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

🦆 The Ducks Have Landed! 🦆

Recently, the James River Art League was featured in our Baxter and Elaine Perkinson Jr. Art Gallery, and one of the many pieces our staff absolutely fell in love with was what we affectionately called “THE DUCKS!” As it turns out, we weren’t the only ones captivated by this beautiful work of art.

Today, we received word that the mission is complete and the ducks have officially landed in their new home with our friend Steve at Three Leg Run! 🎉

We’re sending so much love and appreciation to David Cheatham for sharing his incredible artistry with us, and to Steve and Melissa for supporting the arts in our community and giving this special piece a wonderful new home.

Now we have one question for you, Steve: Where will this beautiful piece be displayed?! 👀🦆

🌭🎶 Summer Nights at The Perk Starts Next Week! 🎶🌭

We're excited to welcome Groovey Doggs as the first food truck in our 2026 Summer Nights at The Perk concert series!

Join us on Wednesday, June 17 as we kick off the season with the incredible Blair's West Trio. Groovey Doggs will be parked on Centre Street and ready to serve delicious food beginning at 5:00 PM.

🎟️ When you arrive, be sure to check in at the Box Office first, then head outside to grab dinner from the food truck before the music begins.

🍴 Tables and chairs will be available for your comfort.
🍷 Our concession stand will also be open with beer, wine, soda, water, and sweet treats.
🎵 Concert begins at 6:00 PM
