Hi all!
As you may be aware, Australia is in dire need of help because of the brush fires sweeping the continent. In the past, I've scrolled by various posts of "Calls to Action", for numerous disasters, not thinking that I could ACTUALLY do anything to make a difference.
However, this week, I realized that I can help in my own small way. I'm not sharing this to boast or to make a political statement! I can't help but think of Mr. Roger's--be a good neighbor. If I were in their circumstances, I'd appreciate any and all help. And for those of you who know me personally, are aware that various forms of help have been there for me when I needed it in difficult times.
Today, I returned a few items at Barnes and Noble, of all places. I decided to use that money (and to round up to what I could afford) to donate to Australia. So, after researching a number of organizations, (I'll include the link), I chose one that spoke to me and I'm proud to have donated $25. I wish I could done more to help the people and wildlife affected, but as my finances are, I did what I could.
I encourage you to give what you can, financially or items that they may need. I've offered my thoughts and prayers too--but I encourage you to do ACTUALLY pray if you causally say, "my thoughts a prayers are with them." With the power of prayer, positive thinking, taking action and by whatever means you can donate, we can make a difference for those in need.
Remember right now Australia is JUST ONE of the many places with people and wildlife that need our help. But you don't have to live across the world to help those in need. Someone in your life, across the street, across the cubicle, next to you in traffic or on the subway might need your help. So remember, kindness is the simplest way to make the world a better place.
Happy 2020 and please do what you can to help the world (your family, neighborhood, country, planet, etc)! Thank you!
The deadly wildfires, fanned by wind and fueled by scorching heat, are raging across the southeast of the country.
