We have 4 potbelly piglets that joined the farm last week! They came from some friends near Raleigh , North Carolina. So small πŸ₯Ή! Their mama is small, they got it from her. The 3 black ones are female and the spotted one is a male.

They're still a little skittish at first but if you sit and wait it doesn't take long for their curiosity to take over. In the clip the girls didn't waste any time coming to check things out, while brother walked off and did his own thing. There's one in every family right πŸ€ͺ?

Take a break from get back to school prep and say wattup! Have a good week y'all πŸ™‚πŸŒ€οΈπŸ·

Susan and Lulu!!

Our 2 alpacas have been staples here for the last 9 years. We received a pregnant Susan in 2018 when she was 11 years old. In early 2019 she gave birth to her daughter Lulu. They've been a mother/daughter pair here ever since.

In the last 6 months Susan's health has begun to deteriorate and she needs special care. Farming and animal care constantly reminds us of the circle of life. She's an old alpaca , almost 20. We've decided to retire her to a peaceful area to live out her last days. Lulu is going with her to keep her company.

Give them a good farewell! They will be missed. Although we don't plan on replacing them with more alpacas we do have some exciting ideas for the space they occupied here. Stay tuned for that!

Have a good weekend y'all πŸ₯²πŸ¦™πŸ¦™βœŒοΈ

Oh man some exciting things happened this past weekend!

Our goat Tyler gave birth to these two beautiful twins. A doeling and a buckling. Not only that, within 24 hours of Tyler's kidding, Mia Bergey's sister, Anna, gave birth to her first child! A little girl named Tilly. She's precious.

Our goat herd is at a size now where we do sell off most of the kids but we always keep 1 or 2 special ones every year. Tyler's little doeling is definitely that! Timing. We also have another one of Tyler's kids we kept a few years ago named Taylee. So naming this little doeling after our new niece, Tilly, feels like a no brainer!

Tyler and her kids will be in with the main herd any day now. Swing by and welcome Tilly the goat to the herd! She is the one with more white in her coat of the two.

Have a great weekend everybody! Blessings all around. πŸ˜πŸπŸ‘Ά

No, you know what? Shout out to Buddy the mini donkey post!

We picked Buddy up outside of Annapolis, Maryland in the spring of 2012. He is one of the original animals to come here when the idea of having a petting zoo on the farm was only beginning. He came from an older gentleman that had originally been collecting animals for his grandkids to visit but the situation had gotten a little out of hand for him. There were almost a hundred animals of all kinds all together in one small muddy enclosure. He was looking for help unloading some of them and we were looking for a mini donkey! Buddy came with us that day, he was so scared and timid!

Buddy turned 15 years old this year. He's been here from the Barnyards humble beginnings to now through thick and thin! He's seen pasture mates come and go. He is a constant here and we love him! We know a lot of y'all do too. We've heard so many times over the years, "Buddy is my favorite."

He's still standoffish at first but those who have had the privilege of spending some time with him know he has a sweet side. Once he warms up to someone he loves to get scratches and nuzzle or rest his chin on a shoulder or a head. Donkeys often often create deep bonds with their caretakers and have a great memory of how an individual treats them.

Have a great week y'all, and next time you're here be sure to go out and wish Buddy a happy 15th birthday! 🫏🩡

Summer Piglets!

One of our Kune Kune pigs, Kiwi, had 4 little piglets a couple of weeks ago. 3 girls and 1 boy! Kune Kune pigs can have around 6-12 piglets at a time but for whatever reason Kiwi always seems to have smaller litters. Her little ones always look healthy though and she takes great care of them!

Here they are rooting into her ni***es and nursing before she becomes startled by one of our kids, who was coming to watch the nursing action. Look how quickly Kiwi gets to her feet! Sneaky agile. A good mama on alert. Once she realized who it was she relaxed.

Now her piglets have been moved into our baby barn and are ready for y'alls visits. Have a great week everybody! πŸ˜ƒπŸ·

We are super excited to share our new lounge area with y'all!

We have slowly but surely been renovating this old barn over the last few years. This was the original milking barn for Bergeys Dairy and is over 75 years old. In 2022 a storm blew in the front of the loft. That moment really catalysted our efforts in trying to preserve it.

Now today we're proud to present a newly painted front as well as a new lounge! Right across from our kitty city we've got a newly decorated area for y'all to cool off and relax.

We've still got some more ideas and dreams for this barn and are proud of where it stands today. Everything we do here feels like it's honoring those that came before us. Thanks for all the support. πŸ’™πŸ›‹πŸˆ

Goatsplosion! 🐐πŸ’₯

All 4 of our does in the latest round of kidding successfully produced twins within the last 2 weeks! πŸ™Œ

Keller had a buckling and a doeling on 5/16

Rella had a buckling and a doeling on 5/21

Kinder also had one of each on 5/22

And Roni had two doelings on 5/25

They all got some outside time to play together today. Roni's two little gals came to inspect the camera there near the end and the one gave us that cute little goat sneeze.

Kellers and Rellas are already in the public pens ready for visits! The others won't be far behind πŸ™‚.
Have a great weekend y'all, hope to see you soon! 🐐🀧
