Lotus Owl Fiber Arts, owned by Tracy Thompson, specializes in quilting and sewing instruction as well as longarm quilting and custom embroidery. Tracy is a Certified Instructor for Quiltworx and operates her own classroom and studio on the grounds of the Hampton Roads Executive Airport. Quilt coloring services, Quiltworx kits and kit cutting as well as paper piecing products are available. Open by appointment and for scheduled classes.

I had so much fun this past week piecing “Flamingo” (design by Cynthia England). I will be carrying her patterns at the new Lotus Owl location when I open in September. I am also offering a beginner “Picture Piecing” class using her freezer paper technique and “Tropical Scene” pattern. See link below for details!

My studio is sort of up and running. As I am on a deadline for a couple quilts, I’m making do with extension cords running from the house as temporary electrical. But progress was made this week in the kitchen! Flooring and cabinets installed!

Yesterday was a big day at Lotus Owl! The longarm, embroidery machine, all kits and patterns and about half the fabric bolts were moved to the new location! My husband and his friend Eric did an amazing job breaking down and setting the longarm back up in one day! The rest of the fabric bolts and all the furniture will be moved tomorrow!

An update on the “Bloom” version of Arcadia…the Quiltworx Technique of the Month publishing January 2027! Paper piecing and appliqué complete and now working on assembly. Two quarters done! This quilt goes together so well! It is going to be a very popular pattern!

Another little sneak peak….here are samples of what will be finishing out the new Lotus Owl!….”Agreeable Grey” paint (seen to the left of the cabinets), blue cabinets in the kitchen, grey LVP flooring in the bathroom and kitchen, and mixed grey carpet tiles in the rest of the space.
