Announcing NEW fall drama classes from Arts Play Theatre for grades PK (age 4) - Grade 5! All classes end in a combined performance with students in Grade 1-5 doing Ninjarella, a play about what happens when Cinderella doesn't want to marry the prince...she wants to be a Ninja!

Congratulations to the students in Summer Arts Play Theatre Camp - they did an awesome job with their production of The Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids! What they accomplished and learned in less than 3 weeks is truly amazing. They should all be so proud of what they created. 😀

Last "Pretend With Me" session of the summer is tomorrow! Toddlers ages 1.5 - 4 and their grown-ups: join us at ZZ Dance from 10 - 10:45 for creative play, acting and pretend activities, a craft, and a book. Summer Arts Play Theatre Camp's final performances of The Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids start in 3 days and we just can't wait! Today at art we made scenery - a dinosaur nest and eggs. Catch it onstage Thursday and Friday in our song about busy mother dinos!

Week 2 of Summer Arts Play Theatre Camp has flown by. We can't believe the final performance is less than a week away! Students have been working hard and having fun: they learned how to use their bodies to make "tableaus" or frozen pictures that tell a story. In this case, that means being trees in a forest. They spent time making scenery for our show, plus relaxing in a "chill" party and performing in our camp talent show. We are so proud of them and can't wait to see them onstage next week!

Our "Pretend With Me" class enjoyed a beach vacation this morning, complete with custom sunglasses, ocean-themed sensory play, and as always, lots of movement, imagination, music and smiles. Next week is our last summer session, and it's all about City Living! We'll be at ZZ Dance from 10 - 10:45 on Wednesday, August 5. Pay-What-You-Decide with a suggested $15 donation. "Pretend With Me" Beach Vacation is tomorrow! From 10 - 10:45, toddlers ages 1.5 - 4 years and their grown-ups will use acting games and pretend activities to imagine a day at the shore. We will do a craft, read a book and do lots of fun, creative play, all led by theatre artists and trained educators. At ZZ Dance: Pay-What-You-Decide with a suggested $15 donation. We had an amazing first week of Summer Arts Play Theatre Camp! Not only did we learn so much of our show, but also we had special classes with Guest Artist Hillary Ekwall, who taught us choreography based on the Broadway version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." She also led us in a class about different ways we can spin our bodies to show spinning onstage. Perfect for our show Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids, when we tell the story of the tree house that begins to spin...
Additionally, Friday at camp was "Summer-ween!" We all wore costumes and created tableaus, or frozen pictures that tell stories, all about the characters that we were dressed as.
