A taxi driver in Hiroshima keeps a photo of his daughter's graduation on his dashboard. To most passengers, it's just a proud dad showing off a milestone. But to him, it's a reminder of the most important decision he ever made.
Years ago, he was a successful engineer, earning good money and working long hours. One day, his young daughter said something he couldn't shake.
She told him, "I remember Mom reading to me. I remember Grandma cooking. I don't remember you."
Those words hit harder than any performance review or paycheck ever could.
So he made a choice that surprised everyone. He left his engineering career and became a taxi driver. The pay was lower. The status was gone. Even family members questioned whether he was making a mistake.
But he had one goal: to be there.
To attend school events. To share meals. To create memories before childhood slipped away.
Today, when asked if he regrets giving up the bigger salary and career advancement, his answer comes instantly:
"Money comes and goes. Time only goes."
And that graduation photo on his dashboard? It's proof that his investment paid off in the way that mattered most.
His daughter remembers him now.
Sometimes the richest people aren't the ones who make the most money. They're the ones who spend their time on what matters most.
