Wenatchee Valley Humane Society Pet of the Week:

Hold onto your hearts, because Groot might capture them! He is truly a nice guy — he likes to observe, is so polite, and after a while you realize what a special dog he is. Groot is always thankful for your attention and time, and he walks so calmly on leash.

This large guy is looking for a patient adopter to help him on his weight loss journey. He’s a goofy teddy bear who is so friendly toward everyone he meets.

He would be a wonderful companion for someone who is calm and leads a quieter life. He may seem a little aloof at first, but just give him a minute and he will be right next to you. He truly is the easiest dog — just a big softie with an even bigger heart.

The Historic Manson Main Street Association invites you to look for the first Heritage Storytelling Panels on light poles in downtown Manson.

The story of Manson’s "Traditions," ties into the Lake Chelan Valley's annual Fourth of July fireworks show over Manson Bay. The show at dusk on July 4 has been a longstanding tradition for the past 47 years.

Main Street Association President Kim Ustanik says the Heritage Storytelling Panels are part of an effort to share Manson's history with residents and visitors.

Volunteering in your community brings benefits! Those that have volunteered over the past several months; individuals, organizations and businesses, their machinery, tools and skills, were thanked with a hosted old-fashioned ice cream social at the new “Village Green” community park on Saturday, June 20.

The Lake Chelan Community Services Council hosted volunteers who have helped transform the former Ernie’s Garage and adjoining property along Wapato Way into a public gathering space overlooking Lake Chelan.

The community services council wrote in an email, “Because of you, this gathering place will be enjoyed for years to come.”
