Well, the monsters have spoken: both sessions of The Monster Within are sold out! 👀

We’re thrilled. October 24 and January 16 are both full, which tells us a lot of you are ready to put down the pattern and see what shows up in a pile of wool and wire. Thank you to everyone who signed up, and a big thank-you to Erin Butler for bringing such a joyful, free-form class to the shop.

If you missed out this time, don’t worry. We’re hoping to bring more felting classes to the calendar in the new year, and we’d love your help deciding what comes next.

So tell us: what kind of felting class would you sign up for? Needle-felted animals? Wet-felted scarves or slippers? Felted ornaments for next holiday season? Something we haven’t thought of yet?

We're turning 11, and you're invited! 🎉

This Saturday, October 10, come celebrate Ewe and I's 11th birthday with us anytime from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Whether you've been coming in since our very first year or you've never set foot in the shop, this is the perfect day to stop by.

Here's what's happening:

👗 Fashion show at 1:00 p.m. Bring the knit and crochet wearables you've made with yarn from our shop, and strut your stuff! Sweaters, shawls, hats, socks — first projects and fiftieth projects are equally welcome on our runway.
🎁 Prizes all day long. We'll be handing them out from open to close.
🎟️ A raffle for a hand-made sweater by Meg from her very own Along the Chehalis yarn. Proceeds go to Hope Alliance Lewis County.

Eleven years of stitches, classes, and friendships made over the yarn counter — none of it happens without you. Come share the day with us!

There's a moment in every beginning weaving class when the pattern suddenly shows up — a clean diagonal of twill running across the cloth — and someone at the loom says, "Wait. I did that?"

Joan will get you to that moment. Her next Beginning Weaving class starts Wednesday, October 14, at 9:00 a.m.

Here's what to expect:
You'll learn to weave on a 4-shaft loom. No experience needed.
Your first project is a sampler in 2/2 and 3/1 twill, so you can see and feel how different structures behave.
Your second project is a scarf, woven in whichever structure you loved most.
Looms are available to use in the shop, and the fiber for your sampler is included. You'll choose and purchase yarn for your scarf.

The class is $225.

Every skein on our shelves started as a fleece on a sheep's back — dusty, full of lanolin, and nowhere near ready to knit. This October, you can learn the whole journey, start to finish, right here in the shop.

Swipe through our fall fiber series:
Fiber Prep: What to Do with a Fleece — Friday, October 9, 1:00 p.m., $50. Learn to wash and process a raw fleece so it's ready to spin. Perfect if there's a bag of wool in your garage and you're not sure where to begin.

Woolen Spinning Techniques — Tuesday, October 13, 10:30 a.m., $60. For spinners who want lofty, airy, warm yarn. You'll practice a variety of woolen techniques at the wheel.

Beginning Spinning (Saturday, October 17) is already full — thank you to everyone who signed up! If you've been hoping to learn to spin, ask us about the waitlist and the next session.

This Thursday, Wendy will sit down with a few people who have never held a pair of knitting needles. By the end of the session, they'll have their first rows to show for it.

Beginning Knitting with Wendy is Thursday, October 1, with three sessions to choose from: 10:30, 11:45, or 1:00. It's $25 and made for true beginners — plus anyone who learned once, forgot, and wants a patient refresher.

Whether it's your first finished scarf or your fiftieth sweater, we'd love to celebrate it. Tag us in your finished projects, drop a photo in our DMs, or just bring your work in and show it off at the counter — we're building out a feature to spotlight the makers in our community, and we want yours to be part of it.

In a world built for speed and shortcuts, we still believe there's real value in slowing down enough to make something by hand.

A ball of yarn is a small thing. But what people build with it — the patience, the focus, the quiet pride of finishing something they made themselves — that's not small at all.

Along the Chehalis is our East Friesian wool, shorn locally in 2023 and spun into some of the softest, most special yarn we've ever carried. This final batch is now available online — once it's gone, it's gone.
