The numbers are in!! We're incredibly proud to share $39,028 was raised during the flood fundraiser ❤
Folks, this may seem like a 'drop in the bucket' compared to the need, but please consider this grass roots effort pulled together an event with 3 weeks of planning that had 3 goals:
#1 Bring people together to give - much of this amazing total came from 100's of donors dropping hard earned money in the bucket. $10, $20, $100 dollars at a time, along side larger donations from very generous people/businesses/organizations. In addition, many graciously dropped off goods at the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce office which was also appreciated by flood victims taking from the bounty of their giving.
#2 Bring people together to take - a large number of those affected by flooding attended the event and were kindly helped by volunteers to load their cars with free flood relief goods. The equivalent of 7 large box trailers of cleaning supplies, food, essentials, yard tools, water etc. was given away.
#3 Bring people together as a resilient community - over 300 people attended in person with over 260 enjoying a meal among their neighbors. A handful of businesses went above and beyond to make this event a reality and allowed us to keep the overall cost to produce the entire fundraiser at $1100.
Official 'THANK YOU's' will be forthcoming, but as is always the case with these efforts...no idea and no amount of planning ever matters without the helping hands of people willing to donate their time as volunteers! We are astounded and humbled that 69 community members (including 11 musicians and 2 artists) gave their time to help make this event a shining example of community success.
Please join us in recognizing and applauding the following businesses for their support to make this happen:
Kortman’s Cake Art by Jennifer Kortman, Alcock’s Market and B.C. Pizza, Busy Bees, The Dipper, The Salvation Army - Cheboygan County, Health Department of Northwest Michigan, Blind Faith Ministries Inc., The Nauti Inn Barstro, Bittersweet of Cheboygan, Performance Foodservice, Pepsi via Cheboygan Walmart and the Cheboygan K of C Hall for donating the space. A special shout out to Liz Warner for being a champion helper and working so very hard along side of us!
Lastly, we're extremely grateful to the Cheboygan County Community Foundation for being our premiere partner in acting as event fiduciary and generously donating $5,000.
Once a few outstanding pledges have been received, we will work with the CCCF to get these funds into the hands of our communities.
Our most sincere THANK YOU to everyone who participated on any level with us...together we truly made a difference!
Appreciatively,
Nate King, Brian & Sharen Lange
