The Meigs High School Student has been immersing herself in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, gaining invaluable hands-on experience that will surely benefit her future career in the medical field. Meet intern Ethan Storts, a dedicated student at Tri-County Career Center. This summer, he immersed himself in the food business by gaining hands-on experience at the 740 Rescue Kitchen in Nelsonville.

During his time there, Ethan learned the ins and outs of kitchen operations, food preparation, and the importance of community service in the culinary field. His experience not only enhanced his skills but also deepened his passion for working in food service and helping those in need.

A big thank you to our friends at Project RISE, through Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center, for creating meaningful opportunities for students through internships and career readiness programs.This summer, they partnered with CFI to place four outstanding Youth GEMS (Garden Education Mentors) with our Garden Summer Camps, and they've already become an invaluable part of our team. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to jump in wherever they're needed have made a real difference, and our campers absolutely love having them around.

We're so grateful for everything they've contributed so far and look forward to continuing to work with them throughout the rest of the summer. Thank you, Project RISE, for helping cultivate the next generation of gardeners, environmental stewards, and champions of healthy local food systems.
