An evening of bold storytelling and fresh voices takes the stage in this collection of staged readings, featuring semifinalist works from our New Play Festival. These new plays, selected for their originality and impact, are presented in development, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience them at a pivotal moment in their journey.

From intimate reflections on love and identity to sharp explorations of family, addiction, and personal transformation, these stories span a wide emotional landscape. Each piece invites you into a world of complex relationships, unexpected humor, and striking honesty as characters navigate connection, conflict, and change.

More than a performance, this evening is an invitation to be part of the process. Following each reading, audiences are encouraged to engage in a guided talkback, offering feedback that helps shape the future of these works and supports the growth of the playwrights behind them.

With a focus on actor and text, staged readings strip theatre down to its essentials, creating a space where new work is not only seen, but shared, explored, and refined in real time.

"You know more than I do."

As Pilgrim searches for a way forward, they encounter two figures with very different answers. One offers certainty. The other offers understanding. Caught between competing paths, Pilgrim must decide what strength truly means and whether healing can come from someone else or if it must be found within.

The Healer's Tale is a thoughtful and imaginative journey about trust, resilience, and discovering your own way through the unknown.

***You will receive an email confirmation with an audition form to fill out!***

AUDITION DATES:
July 6 & 7, 2026
*Note: Please sign up for one audition date only.

ABOUT THE SHOW: Come From Away tells the true story of Gander, Newfoundland, where 38 planes and thousands of stranded travelers were diverted on September 11, 2001. Over a few extraordinary days, the people of this small town welcomed the world with open arms, music, and a reminder that we are all part of one global family.

CREATIVE TEAM:
Director: Blake Harris
Music Director: John Thomas McCecil
Choreographer: Ashley Tisdale
Stage Manager: Jill Burgess
Assistant Stage Manager: Amanda Legge

LOCATION:
Chattanooga Theatre Centre - Circle Lobby
*Note: A parking pass will be provided upon arrival and should be displayed on your vehicle's dashboard.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
You will be taught all the necessary music and movement combinations on the night of your audition. Please dress to move: Wear comfortable clothing that allows for full range of motion.

AGES: Most roles call for actors who appear 40 or older, with a few roles for actors who read as being in their 20s and 30s.

RACE & ETHNICITY: Come From Away brings the whole world to one small town, and we want our cast to reflect that. All heritages and ethnicities are celebrated in this production. We especially encourage performers from MENA (Middle Eastern and North African), Black, Latine, Indigenous, and Asian communities to audition.

DANCE & PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Choreography for this production will celebrate each performer's individual range of motion and physical expression. We welcome people of all physical abilities, and we encourage you not to let prior dance experience - or preconceptions about it - keep you from auditioning.

MULTIPLE ROLES: Each actor will play several characters, often shifting between distinct accents and dialects throughout the show.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Prior experience is not required. We encourage everyone with an interest, passion, and curiosity to audition!

"But you're not scared? Even a little?"

When Rufo comes face-to-face with an unexpected visitor, a simple conversation turns into something much deeper. As the two navigate questions about identity, connection, and the choices that shape us, they discover they may have more in common than either expected.

Filled with humor, heart, and surprising twists, In Circles explores what it means to be yourself and how the way we spend our lives defines who we become.

Catch "In Circles" as part of the New Play Festival at CTC, running through June 21! Reserve your seats today! https://www.theatrecentre.com/the-new-play-festival-tickets
