Mocs Bend Fest: Nature, Art, & Music Celebrate art, nature, and history in Chattanooga while helping support Moccasin Bend National Park! Local Artists partnering with the UTC Theater Department.

the Friends of Moccasin Bend, & Cool Down ChatTown to create a “bike-to”, MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTS FESTIVAL celebrating the urban forest of our newest national park that protects this sacred ground in North Chat. Festival goers will learn about the urban forest, and sustainability in our Cool Down ChatTown green pod, participate in multidisciplinary arts, and be entertained by local artists. We are

marking a pathway to engagement with our natural treasures throughout the year. The art fence, puppets, dance, and play are participatory. We offer community yoga, improvisation games, circle discussions about living urban and protecting our resources. The CDoT and the Friends of Moccasin Bend are helping to establish bike routes between UTC, the festival site, and the National Park. Interpretive Rangers from Chick/Chat National Parks will give tours during the festival to help people learn about the Sacred Ground of our newest National Park. Sat. July 30 is Bike, Paddle, & Play: Find Your Park day. Local artists have been studying the archaeology of Moccasin Bend to create place based art. Cerulean's play, "Robin! Coming to a Forest Near You", is a romantic comedy set in an urban forest/river ecosystem [auditions, June 1, UTC Ward Theatre, 5-7]. Merril Val Love and Craig Steel's "Tree Dimension" projects moving, fractal images on the urban forest. Chad Burnet, Mirel Crumb, and Craig Steel's Sculptural Art Fence helps establish the gateway site. Megan Hollenbeck is creating a short film about the project. Skwalking Heads puppets will help create the Forest Chorus. Andrew Nigh's sculpture will light up the urban night sky. Patrick Ironwood of Sequatchie Valley Institute will host natural sculpture making Wed. July 20, 12-4. Drum circles and Music from Milele Roots will get us dancing together. By growing support for the Friends of Moccasin Bend, we can increase the protected acreage of this 750 acre park that is near established bike routes.

Mrs. Lillian H. Annie's "Hi Brow Tea House" on Lookout Mountain. The tea house was in operation in the mid-1920s by Mrs. Annie and hosted a number of events and teas.
