Looking for more amazing shows and events to attend? The UTC Department of Theatre can help!
Check out these four opportunities coming up to catch a staged reading of a new musical, or sit in the live audience for a recorded radio play! 👏👏
The Department of Theatre will present a staged reading of “They Buried the Gun with Mama”, a new musical written and composed by two UTC Theatre alumni: Lisa McQueen, Musical Director for the world-famous Second City Comedy Troupe and the national tour “Who’s LIVE Anyway?”, and Barb Nelligan, TV writer, playwright, and comedian. The cast will consist of theatre students and alumni actors.
The story is inspired by the true miscarriage of justice for a North Georgia man falsely convicted of murdering his former partner and spending years in jail before being exonerated. Told from the perspective of his murdered ex determined to find out who really killed her, the musical features southern mafia, 1970’s Southern Rock music, and the vengeance of a ghost.
There will be two performances of the staged reading—October 24 at 7:30 p.m. and October 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office and at utc.edu/theatre. 🎟️🎟️
The Theatre and Communications Departments are hosting a class called “Radio Theatre”, in which student actors and technicians will present three 30-minute performances recorded before live audiences in Cadek Recital Hall.
Join us for two more FREE performances on October 17 and November 14, before the recordings are broadcast on WUTC in late November! 🎙️📻
