We are deeply grieved to share the passing of Shane Morrow, a close friend of many of us, a fervent ally of the marginalized and overlooked, a strong leader in the arts, and a kind joyous person who impacted many many many of us to the extent that words cannot convey.
Personally, I met Shane a few years ago and was so grateful to be mentored and guided along the way of our organization development. With a few lunch and coffee meetings, Shane impacted the way we run our organization and raise funds for the better. Folks on our inner circle and board were very close personal friends with Shane and will attest to the same - his kind, giving spirit without reservations, willing to help and give in any and every way possible.
It is impossible to put into words the impact Shane has had on our community— from the arts movement to Glass street, empowering people of color, q***r folks, the poor and marginalized, Shane was always looking out for who he could help, who he could lift, and how he could make a difference. Shane made a difference for us and so many in Chattanooga.
