I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense! As the run comes to a close, last but certainly not least, here is our director, Jerry M Draper!

Jerry has led the charge as Nunsense’s director, and as occasional substitute pianist and part-time nun (if you know, you know!). Having been a part of Nunsense before, he knows this show front to back and has been dedicated to bring the vision to life for this iconic musical.

Jerry says the mix of humor and heartfelt moments are what makes Nunsense so special, and why he chose to direct it: "When choosing a comedy, I love looking for shows that have a serious moment that catches the audience off guard. In a show about nuns raising money to bury their last 4 dead sisters who are in the freezer...you expect a lot of laughs and funny songs which there are a lot of. That's why my favorite number in the show is the ballad at the top of Act 2 and it's sung by the practical joker of the convent. Be ready to be touched by a warm, tender moment in the midst of chaos."

I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense! It's so fitting that today is World Laughter Day, because seeing this show would be the perfect way to celebrate! 😉

Kyle Dangan has worked hard as the choreographer of Nunsense, creating fun and s***ky dances. His favorite number to watch come to life has been "Clean Out The Freezer." He says, "It is high energy and fun, and the lyrics are hilarious!" Also an actor himself, Kyle says if he were to play a character in this show, "I would love to play Robert Anne. She is just a really fun and multi-faceted character." This show is full of witty characters and engaging dance numbers!

I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense! Here comes Sister Robert Anne, the last of our nuns.

Beth McClary-Wolford plays this rough and tough jokester of the group. She says Robert Anne has "big dreams, sass, and just enough attitude to keep things interesting." Beth's favorite aspect of playing this character is how Robert Anne is "scrappy, hilarious, and absolutely convinced she was meant for more than convent life—and honestly? She’s not wrong!" She says her girl Robert Anne has got that “'I just want to be a star' energy… and she knows exactly how to get what she wants. A little rebellious. A lot self-aware. And 100% ready to steal a moment whenever she can."

I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense!

Ellie Whetmore is operating the spotlight, and as the script says she is also known as Sister Mary Myopia: the school's archery teacher. Ellie joked that if she were in the convent, she would probably change all the light bulbs or be Father Michael's (Michael Myers, tech) assistant. As a dance student of four years, she has been fascinated with Kyle's choreography and thinks you will be too!

I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense! As our team takes a well deserved break over the next few days, you can plan your show visit! 😉

Jessie Weaver plays Sister Mary Amnesia in Oak Street's adaptation of the classic musical. Amnesia is, as her name suggests, suffering from a bout after a crucifix fell on her head! This leads to lots of laugh-out-loud moments as her behavior is often not what you'd expect from an orderly nun. If Jessie were to pick a character from the musical she would be friends with in real life, she says, "I think I might actually be friends with Reverend Mother. I tend to be a rule-follower and people pleaser and she’d like that. Plus she would have all kinds of fun stories about her past to share!"

I hear the convent bells ringing; it’s time to get to know the cast and crew of Nunsense! Opening night was a success and this weekend's run continues tonight and tomorrow afternoon!

Michael Myers is bringing his skills to the tech booth for Oak Street’s take on this beloved musical. He says if he were to join the crew of nuns in this Hoboken convent, he would be the one who makes sure all the lights work!
