What a remarkable day! More than 70 student musicians, ages 8 to 80, took the stage for our Spring Recital, celebrating the close of our 8th season at Wilcox Gallery Music Studio. Each year, we are inspired all over again by the growth of both our new and returning students.

Congratulations to every performer—you made the day truly unforgettable with your beautiful music!

Thank you to Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva and her talented graduate students from the University of Mobile’s Alabama School of the Arts. Your partnership with us is making a lasting impact on our students and our community.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the congregation of New Life Fellowship Church for graciously hosting us again this year. Your continued support means so much to us.

We’re already excited for what’s ahead as we prepare for our 9th season this fall at Wilcox Gallery Music Studio. Be on the lookout for class details and application information coming this summer!

Congratulations to WCHS Senior Kassidy Weaver! Kassidy was awarded the Edith Wilcox Memorial Scholarship at last night’s Washington County Honor Band concert.

The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding senior in the Washington County Honor Band each year. The criteria for selection is determined by the Washington County band directors.

During the Honor Band weekend, the visiting conductor hosted an audition with each senior musician. Based on this audition, at the request of the Washington County band directors, the student with the highest score was selected as the recipient of this year’s scholarship.

TONIGHT, the Washington County Honor Band will perform at the WCHS Auditorium in Chatom at 6:30. This group is comprised of talented musicians from each of our local school’s band programs.

They auditioned on Monday and had group rehearsals yesterday and today in preparation for tonight’s concert. We are proud of their hard work and will award one outstanding senior musician the Edith Wilcox Memoral Scholarship at the event tonight.

Join us in commending each of these young men and women and come out tonight to show your support and enjoy a night of beautiful music! 🎶

Congratulations to one of our Music Studio instructors, Miss Zarina, on being selected to perform at the 2026 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Collegiate Symposium!

At the symposium, Miss Zarina will perform alongside a few other outstanding collegiate musicians from universities across the United States. The event will take place this weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina.

Our students are blessed to study music with some of the best. Way to go, Miss Zarina! We are so proud of you!

“Praise Him with stringed instruments…” Psalm 150:4

This week marked the beginning of our 8th year at the Wilcox Gallery Music Studio, striving to fulfill the words in the verse above.

We welcomed over 90 students ranging in age from 7 to 79 and from across 5 counties in Alabama and 1 county in Mississippi.

Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva at the University of Mobile Alabama School of the Arts, we are able to provide free piano and violin lessons in our community taught by incredibly talented music students from UM. We are grateful for Rebecca, Alison, Marc, Zarina, and Zhanel and know they will guide our students well this year.

We look forward to watching all of these students grow as musicians this year!

And thanks to Southern Charm Sweets for the absolutely adorable and delicious cookies for our students and teachers on their first day!

Music can bring such joy to our lives. A great lyric, melody, or beat can lift our mood, trigger a memory, and make us want to dance. But there’s so much more it can give! Learning to PLAY music enhances our lives in lasting ways.
