Just a short temporary closure as the entire staff of The Warm Ewe is suffering from a cold. We don’t want to spread it further so the store is closed this evening (5:30 to 7:30 pm) and will reopen Friday, August 28 at 11 am. While we rest up, we hope you are all healthy. See you tomorrow.

Our Annual Sale begins tomorrow. Help us make room for the new Fall yarns which will be arriving shortly. You’ll find 20% off yarns, needles and needle sets, fabrics, most notions, patterns books, magazines, and more, with a few exclusions. All clearance and selected yarns are 50% off. If you have a project you will want help with, we suggest you come in today. We can spend time with you figuring out how much yarn you will need and the color you want. The Columbia County Fair begins on Wednesday Sept. 2 and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 7th. Have you chosen your entries for the Wool Booth? There are two important dates to keep in mind. You need to register your entries by Friday August 15th on the Fair’s website. You can stop by the office in person if can’t use the website from home. The second important date is Sunday Aug. 30th, from 2 to 6 pm when you deliver your items to the Wool Booth.

The Fair is celebrating the nation’s 250th Anniversary with the 2026 Fairgoer’s Favorite Special Contest. The contest’s theme is red, white, and blue. Your entry (hat, socks, shawl, sweater, hooked rug, needlefelted item, handspun yarn, to name a few examples) will be displayed in a special area for fairgoers to vote for their favorite. The item with the most votes wins a prize! Remember that your item for this contest must meet Wool Booth criteria and be entered in a division and class. Details are available at columbiafair.com. Tonight, (Thurs Aug 6th) is Knitter’s Night at the Crandell. Hope to see you there for the 7pm showing of The Invite! Bring an easy project. The lights will be up so you can knit, crochet, etc while you watch the movie with fellow crafters. The Warm Ewe will be open from 5:30 until just before movie time, so feel free to stop in on your way!

We are intrigued by Andrea Mowry’s Rhinebeck sweater design for this year. It’s called Antipodes and uses both a solid and a variegated fi*****ng yarn. You can see some of the choices but we have more and are happy to help you. Colorful or neutral? Knitter’s choice. There are a lot of projects on Ravelry for inspiration. Join us for a knit-along for your Rhinebeck sweater - this sweater or another sweater. We’ll get started at Community Making this afternoon from 2 to 5 pm. The weather today in Chatham is beautiful, so bring a chair and join us in front of the store.
