Congratulations, FilmColumbia fans! Your Audience Choice Award winning film, Emilia Pérez, received 13 Oscar nominations yesterday, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. You know how to pick them! A total of 7 films shown at this year's festival also received nominations, including Flow, Soundtrack to a Coup D'Etat, A Real Pain and the Brazilian film I'm Still Here. The performance of that film's Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated star, Fernanda Torres (bottom), helped secure the film's additional nominations for Best International Feature AND Best Picture.

The Academy has just released its shortlists for Oscar nominations. In the Documentary category, fifteen films will advance before nominations are announced on January 23. The shortlist includes three films that screened at FilmColumbia24: “No Other Land,” "Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat,” and "Union." We were lucky to see them at FC24! "No Other Land" and "Union" still don't have distribution deals.

Films about Israel and a union drive at Amazon are acclaimed Oscar hopefuls. But they are largely unavailable to American audiences.
