Meet our instructor, GIA RAY! She started her dance career working as a dancer in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She loved dancing and wanted to expand her repertoire so branched out into the world of , teaching at the formerly named Blue Light Ballroom in Charlottesville, Virginia, and competing professionally in American Smooth around the country.

After competing in Smooth she decided to expand her professional dance to Rhythm, and is now teaching all of the above at Smooth Sailing Ballroom.

To come full circle, Gia now also leads Salsa-Bachata retreats to San Miguel de Allende once a year for Day of the Dead (Día de Los Mu***os).

You can catch her this month teaching for the Charlottesville Chapter No. 6044 on Saturday, August 22 at Event is Saturday, Aug 22, at The Center at Belvedere; doors open 6:30pm.
• Gia Ray teaches the Cha Cha class from 7 to 8pm, with social dance following from 8 to 10pm.
• Admission cost: $15 general, $10 for USA Dance, Inc members, $5 for students. Cash/check/Venmo only accepted.

Life has a way of bringing us back to what we love most. After years away, I’ve officially stepped back into the world of professional ballroom dancing (!!!)—with so much appreciation, gratitude, and joy 💪🫶💃🏻

I’m now dancing with a professional partner, Adam Mehring, and teaching out of a local studio, Smooth Sailing Ballroom, helping others find their own rhythm and confidence on the floor. ✨
