Virginia Theatre Festival The professional summer theatre of the University of Virginia since 1974.

For over 45 years, our theatre has presented an annual summer festival of musicals, classic works, and new plays for our local Charlottesville, Albemarle, and UVA communities. Our mission is to offer an immersive professional theatre experience, where UVA faculty, staff, and students work alongside both professional artists and community members

We are grateful for the artistic vision Jenny Wales has had as she has led our company for nearly a decade. Jenny will step down tomorrow, August 21 as Artistic Director to move into a faculty position at UVA. We wish her well in her new chapter! Here are some highlights from Jenny’s tenure.
