Thanks to everyone who came out to our Summer Season Kickoff concert. We heard guest soloists Becky Allen and Doug Nash, played some movie, TV, and Broadway music, Americana, and Sousa marches! We also bid farewell to member and assistant director Burton Hable, who played his last concert with us before moving to a faculty position at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Our next performance is Tuesday, June 23 at the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center at Charlottesville High School. We start at 7:30pm, and admission is free!

Cville Band is holding Bb soprano clarinet auditions for new members on May 30, 10AM-12PM at the Charlottesville Band building in Charlottesville, VA. We are seeking advanced players—high school, collegiate, high performing amateur, and professional—who are interested in performing challenging, high quality wind band repertoire in central Virginia’s premier concert band. About 750 people came out to Cville Band Spring 2026 Concert, starting our 104th season of free concerts. We heard our concerto winner, flutist Michelle Wong, our Middle School Scholarship students, and assistant conductor Burton Hable conducted "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas" as his farewell piece, before he takes a faculty position at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

We begin our Summer Season on Tuesday, June 2 at The Paramount Theater of Charlottesville at 730pm -- we'll see you then!

Members of The Charlottesville Band and others present an afternoon of British and French Chamber Music at The Center at Belvedere.

This performance is free and open to the public, so come listen to Band members play some music they never get to in full Cville Band concerts!

Meet our 2026 Murphy Concerto Competition winner, flutist Michelle Wong. Michelle will be performing Mouquet's La Flute de Pan with the Band at our Spring Concert!

Michelle Wong is a senior at Charlottesville High School where she plays in the CHS Wind Ensemble. For the last four years she has been a member of the Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia’s Youth Symphony. Michelle has also won the Wednesday Music Club Camp Scholarship Competition and attended summer programs at Interlochen, Oberlin, and the New England Conservatory. She has participated in District Band throughout high school and last year placed first chair in the All State Concert Band. Michelle will attend Northwestern University in the fall where she plans to major in chemistry and hopes to continue playing in ensembles. Michelle Wong is a student of Elizabeth Brightbill.
