This is us from our first ever team meeting! Charlottesville family: we know it’s been a minute. This is long, but take a sec to read it. We have intentionally taken a pause to regroup, recharge, and reframe this passion project. COVID-19 has taken so much, changed so much. Our world has changed so much, even since the dawn of COVID in our country and community.
During the first four months of this project, we were so blessed to meet over 1,000 of our neighbors and make their portraits. We worked pretty hard and fast!
We have decided to continue our porch portrait project, but with a different scope. We have found sliding scale photography to be a huge desire in our community, to document these times, to document our community, to document you all!
We are restarting porch portraits starting September 8th. (Were going back to school!) We will also be doing occasional, socially-distanced portrait sessions at public outdoor spaces. We will have a smaller capacity, likely a cap of fifty total sessions a week (10 per photographer to keep things sane).
We will also be picking a different community partners to donate funds to every quarter. So if you have ideas let us know!
As part of our effort to support this community and continue this project, we want to bring on a paid, part time administrative role to assist in the day-to-day. So, if you or someone you know loves organization, interacting with the community, and generally kicking butt, please let us know! We highly encourage women’s BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ folks to reach out. DM or email works great!
So: give us a shout for a portrait, to work with us, or just shout hurray!
