Zoe is offering for a FREE Open Level Modern+Contemporary Community Class for Cumulus! Sat 8/8 10:00-11:30am Studio 20 at McGuffey Art Center.

Class Description:
A modern/contemporary inspired class with structured warmups, brief technical work, guided improvisation, and short choreography. Focus is on moving your body in a way that feels good, expanding our body awareness, and growing our improvisational toolbox. All movement backgrounds welcome!

Instructor Bio:
Zoe is a dancer with a background in modern/contemporary/improvisation. At University of Virginia, she performed and choreographed in the dance program, performed at and submitted work to ACDA regional conferences, received grants to attend workshops internationally, and completed screendance work. Her interests include improvisation and kinesthetic awareness/forms of embodied knowledge. She completed her undergraduate studies at UVA and is currently attending UVA School of Medicine. She has been dancing with Cumulus since 2022 and is excited to continue engaging with this wonderful community!

Join in the National Water Dance 🧑‍🩰at the Garden on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 4:00pm with choreographer Emily Wright and Cumulus Dance. Learn a few moves and join or simply soak in this expression of connection between water 🌊, environment, and community.

This is part of a synchronized event spanning more than 30 states with the national livestream beginning at 3:30pm. This mindful event is the finale of the Garden's' Spring Festival and Eco Fair happening on Saturday, April 18th. 🪩

UNWINDING: Wed Jan 21 & 28 6:00-6:50 stretch, soften, and reconnect to the body without pressure or expectation. Through grounded floor work and simple standing sequences, we explore release, circulation, and movement maintenance, with gentle conditioning woven in as appropriate. Taught in a primarily follow-along format, ample variations are offered alongside ongoing encouragement to adapt, pause, or modify in service of your own energy and needs on any given day. Designed as a supportive practice for dancers and movers, this class lives between rest and movement. Mats are optional; kneepads, socks, or bare feet are all welcome.
