We couldn’t let the day go by without recognizing the birthday of Maria Montessori! 🎂✨ In honor of her birthday, all of our pictures today are in black and white—a little throwback to what photographs looked like when Maria Montessori herself was in them. 🖤🤍 We are so grateful for the incredible philosophy, work, and legacy she left behind and for the opportunity to continue bringing her vision to life in our classroom every day. Happy Birthday, Maria Montessori! 💜💜

🌍✈️ Flat Queenie is off on another amazing adventure!

This time, Flat Queenie is exploring the beautiful countries of Switzerland 🇨🇭 and France 🇫🇷 with one of our wonderful families! We love seeing our Queen City Montessori families take Flat Queenie around the world, helping our students learn about new cultures, places, and experiences.

⚽🌎 Flat Queenie scored BIG today!

Can you believe it? Flat Queenie made it to the FIFA World Cup in Atlanta! She even posed for photos with fans representing 18 different countries before cheering on the match between England and DR Congo.

What a dream adventure! From our little Montessori classroom to one of the world’s biggest sporting events, Flat Queenie is proving that a little curiosity (and a flat passport!) can take you anywhere.

We can’t wait to see where Queenie travels next. Keep those summer adventures coming, QCM families—every memory is one worth sharing! 💛🌍✈️

🚸 Community Safety Meeting for Hawthorne Lane 🚸

Many of our families walk, bike, and drive along Hawthorne Lane every day. Concerns about traffic safety on this road have led to a meeting with CDOT, and community voices are needed.

If you are available and would like to support efforts to improve safety on Hawthorne Lane, please consider attending:

📍 CDOT Meeting About Hawthorne Lane
📅 June 16
⏰ 1:00–2:00 PM
📍 The Culture Shop

RSVP and view details here:

We are grateful for everyone who continues to advocate for safer streets for our children, families, neighbors, and community members. The more voices represented, the stronger our collective message will be.

Thank you for your support. Please share!!

First Flat Queenie sighting of the summer!

Our Flat Queenie tradition was inspired by the beloved Flat Stanley book series. The original Flat Stanley project began in 1995 when a third-grade teacher created it to encourage students to connect through letter writing. Since then, Flat Stanley has traveled all over the world!

Each summer, our families, teachers, and alumni take Flat Queenie along on their adventures—whether it’s a trip to the park, a family vacation, or a special outing around town. It’s a fun way for our school community to stay connected, share memories, and follow Queenie’s travels all summer long.

We can’t wait to see where Flat Queenie goes next!

Be sure to send us your Flat Queenie photos so we can share her adventures!

What a wonderful week we had at Summer Camp: Rhyme and Shine! ☀️🎶✨

From creative crafts and silly songs to dancing, laughter, and hands-on fun, our campers stayed busy making memories all week long. We loved watching their imaginations grow as they explored favorite nursery rhymes, moved to music, and shared so many smiles with friends.

We’re going on a bear hunt… and today at camp we actually DID! 🐻🌿💦

Our little explorers walked through buckets of swishy swashy grass, splash splosh water, squelchy mud, crunchy sticks, and even icy “snowstorm” cubes just like in the story! Sensory play is such a fun way to bring books to life, and the campers fully embraced every messy, giggly minute of it.

So much imagination, laughter, and brave bear hunters today at camp! 🤎

Over the past few weeks, our classroom has been busy watching one of nature’s most magical transformations. 🐛🦋 From tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies, the children observed each stage with so much excitement, curiosity, and wonder.

Today was finally release day! The butterflies spread their wings and flew off into the world while the children waved goodbye and cheered them on. What a special hands-on experience for our little learners and such a beautiful reminder of growth and change. 💛

This week we introduced self-serve snack in the classroom!

We begin this transition when children show us they may not be ready to eat right at the start of the day, and instead would prefer to begin with work on the shelves and have snack when they feel ready. Over the past few months during community snack, the children have been building important skills such as independently opening an orange, peeling a banana, putting their water bottle in the fridge, and cleaning up their trash when they are finished.

With self-serve snack, children take on even more independence and responsibility. When a child is ready for snack, they find their name card and place it in an open spot at the snack table. They then go to the sink to wash their hands before coming to choose their snack.

A visual sign at the table shows how much snack each child may take (for example, today they could take one orange). The children then sit together at the table to enjoy their snack with friends. There are four spots available, so they may need to wait if the table is full—another great opportunity to practice patience.
