For ten years, I have produced NC's Miss and Mister Holiday pageant.
Producing this one-of-a-kind event has been a blessing. It has given me the chance to work with a litany of fantastic performers and hard-working current reignings, including Ida Carolina and Ricky Haggerty Knight-Addams.
As most of you know, back in May, I retired from promoting North Carolina Entertainer of the Year because I needed to recharge my batteries.
With the holiday season beginning its approach, I've come to realize my batteries are still depleted.
I have far too much respect for this community to produce a subpar product, phone in an effort, or take on titleholders I cannot nurture. In all honesty, I've already failed to do justice by Ricky and Ida. They deserve the world.
That is why I have made the difficult decision not to hold Miss and Mister Holiday 2020.
I have asked my currents to continue their reign. I hope they will accept, and I hope to revisit this decision in a year's time with recharged batteries and a rejuvenated spirit.
Please know this does not reflect in any way on Ida Carolina or Ricky Haggerty Knight-Addams. My current reignings are passionate individuals with an assiduous business acumen others could learn from, myself included.
I ask for compassion and understanding as I make this tough decision. It is not one I make lightly. I love you guys, I love this business, and though I may at times seem distant and eremitic, this industry is in my heart and always will be.
Until next year,
-- David Bryant
