Today I turn 50 years old.

It’s hard to believe this is me at 16 with my prized Mustang. Man, I loved that car.

If you’d told that kid he’d still be completely obsessed with cars at 50, he probably wouldn’t have been surprised. What he never could have imagined was where those cars would lead.

Today, I’m incredibly thankful, not just for the cars, but for the people they’ve brought into my life.

I’m grateful for the privilege of serving the Hornets Nest Region, AACA and being part of Antique Automobile Club of America. I’m thankful for Charlotte AutoFair, Spirit of Wilkes, our shows, tours, breakfasts, social events, and all the places where this hobby brings people together.

More than anything, I’m thankful for the friendships that have come from all of it. Some of my favorite memories have happened in parking lots, garages, show fields, and around dinner tables with people who started out as fellow car enthusiasts and became lifelong friends.

And of course, none of it would mean nearly as much without Karen and Maggie, who have encouraged me every step of the way and shared this crazy adventure with me.

Thank you to our members, vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who follows along with what we’re building. You’ve made turning 50 feel less like getting older and more like looking back on a life that’s been incredibly blessed.

Here’s to making a lot more memories together.
