Something that comes up a lot during wedding dance lessons is “decision fatigue.” Are you familiar with that feeling? If you are planning a wedding, or if you are just a human, you’ve probably experienced this feeling quite a lot.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember the fatigue surrounding the choices at my wedding, but I also struggle with this on the daily. How do you choose from 14,000 table lamps? I’m talking to you, ! 🤣

Anyway, what I’m trying to say here, is that it can be really challenging to choose a first dance song. You are choosing from the entire history of music, and then there are new, amazing songs coming out every year!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s a couple ways you can go about this choosing process. (AHEM, SAVE THIS POST FOR REFERENCE!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) You could narrow it down by genre (pop, r&b, country, etc.) or time period (big band, oldies, 90s, 2024, etc.) This is a fun way to match your song to your wedding vibe. E.g., a country song for a rustic barn wedding or a big band song for a glitzy ballroom.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) You could narrow it down by artist first and choose your favorite love song from their albums. Low hanging fruit here: , , Frank Sinatra all have many lovely songs for first dances.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) You could check out some of my playlists on Spotify for curated lists of songs. I just updated a playlist of the songs I have beginner-friendly online wedding dance tutorials to. This is a GREAT place to start and super manageable because the list DOESN’T have a thousand songs on it. (LINK IN BIO, ya’ll.)

For today, you can consider the first dance song that Kaitlin & Adam chose. (They’re the gorgeous couple featured in these photos.) They loved both and Frankie Valli’s version so they transitioned from one to the other to make it extra special. So fun!
