Silent Cinema Café is back. And this time, with extra comedy!

Join us on Sunday, September 27, for an afternoon of classic silent comedy shorts featuring Laurel & Hardy, KoKo the Clown, and more!

All films will be presented with live musical accompaniment, improvised by Charlotte musician MonaLisa Musiq.

We’re thrilled to present two of Laurel & Hardy’s great early comedies, “Putting Pants on Philip” and “The Battle of the Century.” Both were made during the Boys’ first year as a comedy team, and we’ll be showing beautiful restorations by Blackhawk Films and Lobster Films, courtesy of Flicker Alley.

The program will also feature a KoKo the Clown short courtesy of Fleischer Cartoons Restored, plus a rediscovered comedy gem courtesy of Undercrank Productions, as part of their partnership with the Library of Congress’ Mostly Lost workshop.

Another successful Silent Cinema Café!

Thanks to everyone who joined us Sunday to kick off spooky season with “The Bat.” We had a blast sharing this delightful, silly, and gorgeously photographed old dark house mystery from 100 years ago with such a wonderful audience.

And especially with the virtuoso improvised score by the amazing Kate Bankston!
