Have you heard the buzz?

Coming in 2025, Charlotte becomes home to the Buzz City Burlesque Festival! We can’t wait to welcome nationally- and internationally-recognized entertainers and instructors right here in our hometown, to celebrate the artistry, diversity, and empowerment of burlesque! 💖✨

First things first. Why ‘Buzz City?’

Our name comes from one of Charlotte’s nicknames, Buzz City, a playful nod to Charlotte’s historical significance. During the Revolutionary War, British General Cornwallis dubbed Charlotte “a veritable hornet’s nest of rebellion” as he was driven out of town.

Charlotteans embraced the moniker, and now hornets’ nests are everywhere — from government badges to the city seal. Our NBA team is, of course, the Charlotte Hornets, parks have names like Hornet’s Nest Park, and even our hometown cookie dealers are members of the Girl Scouts Hornet’s Nest Council. Buzzzzz!

We can’t wait to host the inaugural Buzz City Burlesque Fest! We’ll see y’all in Charlotte in November 2025! 💜
