There comes a season when you realize learning never really ends.
I came to Wildacres Retreat hoping to become a better painter. I left remembering something even more important- that paying attention is a practice.
Watching Michelle Held teach, studying flowers until they become shapes instead of petals, and spending a few days in the BlueRidge Mountains reminded me that every painting begins long before the first brushstroke.
It begins with looking.
