“Tea at Six” — A Reflection
In a curious corner of Wonderland, time no longer moves forward.
Six o’clock struck…
and struck again.
And again.
And somewhere along the way—
we lived inside that moment.
The Mad Hatter waited at a table where the tea stayed warm, the laughter echoed, and one chair remained forever empty.
What began as a story about madness
became something much more real.
It became about waiting.
About loss.
About the quiet ache of holding space for someone who never arrives.
But over the course of this season,
we discovered something deeper.
We were never just telling a story about being trapped in time—
We were living in moments we didn’t realize we would miss.
Inspired by the emotional quote:
Do we ever truly understand the beauty of our lives while we are living them?
And now, at the end…
we might finally have our answer.
Because the rehearsals we rushed through—
we would give anything to do again.
The laughter that filled the room—
now echoes a little softer.
The people sitting beside us—
won’t always be there in the same way.
This season,
this cast,
this version of Opus—
will become the empty chair.
And that is what makes it matter.
“Tea at Six” was never just about the one who didn’t arrive.
It was about the ones who did.
The ones who showed up.
Who stayed.
Who grew.
Who struggled.
Who chose, again and again, to sit at the table together.
Because while the Hatter is trapped in six o’clock—
we were given something better.
We were given time.
Time to create.
Time to fail.
Time to connect.
Time to become something more than we were before.
And now…
time moves forward.
So as we close this chapter,
we don’t just remember the empty chair—
we remember the table that was full.
And we carry with us the lesson this story gave:
Love louder.
Stay longer.
Be present.
Because one day,
this moment—
becomes the one you wish you could return to.
Thank you for sitting at the table with us.
