What's on my needles?
I had a little finished object parade during today's video! I finished my June sock, making my Diametric Duo set complete. Now to contemplate my choices for July and August... should I pick a pair to work during the "Be There or Be Square! MAL", like the Tiny Bits Socks (using mitered squares for the leg) or start an Adventure Sock with my pretty purchase from Spring Maker's Fest? Decisions, decisions!

The knitting is done on my Elder Tree Shawl, using Cotton + Merino Chic, the sparkly version of the cotton / merino blend yarn from Juniper Moon Farm. I still need to weave in ends and block, but it's done and quite lovely. AND, I didn't run out of yarn during the million-year picot bind off. Woot! 🥳

Swim Trunks captures the joyful chaos of a rack full of bright summer board shorts. Electric lime, sun-bleached aqua, coral peach, and hot pink tumble together in bold splashes and playful flashes, while scattered charcoal speckles reveal the unmistakable silhouette of Sasquatch catching the perfect wave.

This colorway is equal parts retro beach vacation and Pacific Northwest legend. It knits up into a lively fabric where pops of tropical color dance between unexpected dark accents, creating a fabric that's as fun to stitch as it is to wear.

Whether you're casting on socks for a beach trip, a lightweight shawl for cool evenings by the lake, or a summer tee bursting with personality, Swim Trunks brings sunshine, surf, and just a hint of cryptid magic to every stitch.

Warning: Wearing these Swim Trunks may increase sightings of Bigfoot... especially near the water's edge. 🌊🦶

Preorder NOW on our website (yarngardenmichigan . com) for delivery by July 1st!

July's COTM, "Swim Trunks", captures the joyful chaos of a rack full of bright summer board shorts. Electric lime, sun-bleached aqua, coral peach, and hot pink tumble together in bold stripes and playful flashes, while scattered charcoal speckles reveal the unmistakable silhouette of Sasquatch catching the perfect wave.

What's on my needles?
My June sock is about halfway done... I'm working on the gusset decreases right now. I'm hoping to wrap it up before the next MAL starts next week.

I'm only working 2 or 3 rounds on my 6 (hundred) Day Star Blanket every week, so it's not humming along particularly quickly. But slow forward progress is still progress!

And I'm humming along on my Elder Tree Shawl, using Cotton + Merino Chic, the sparkly version of the cotton / merino blend yarn from Juniper Moon Farm. I talked quite a bit during today's video about how to use a kitchen scale in my yarn craft. In this case, it was to help determine when I should stop to the lace and start the border.

Events to watch out for!

WWK&CIP Day
Saturday, June 13th from 2p - 5p
Join us for a delightful afternoon of knitting and crocheting in public at the beautiful new winery in Charlotte! Whether you're a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy your craft in a public place and make our art visible to the larger community. It's a great way to start conversations about stitching and generally make a good spectacle of ourselves.

Bring your current project(s) and we'll gather at the new Auxo Winery. This fabulous new small business is located at 19 E. Five Point Hwy, a few miles south of Charlotte (not far from the highway). Depending on weather, there is a lovely patio for outdoor stitching and plenty of opportunities for food and of course, beverages! If you're interested in learning more about the winery, please give them a follow on their social media channels.

Be There or Be Square MAL
Starts on Thursday, June 18th
Pick a pattern from our curated bundle on Ravelry and create a project that features squares. I love this idea for a Make-A-Long because you can pick a knit project featuring mitered squares, a crocheted project that used granny squares or pick a project with BOTH crafts!

You'll be knitting or crocheting along with the support of a community of other makers, both in-person and virtually via Zoom. There are a TON of options in our bundle, but lots of other possibilities as well. Don't see anything that catches your fancy? Explore your options on Ravelry... we're flexible on what project you work on!
Be sure to sign up over on our website to stay looped into all the details.
