"Il Dito Parla Quanto La Bocca" is a celebration of my Italian heritage and the powerful voice of gesture, emotion, and presence. The two girls in the painting—my nieces—are Italian on both their mother’s and father’s sides, embodying a lineage rich with strength and feeling. Intense reds dominate the composition, symbolizing the passion, resilience, and emotional depth of Italian women, even at a young age. Red, green and white also echo the colors of Italy. The red geraniums in the foreground—so familiar on Italian balconies—root the piece in memory, place, and culture.

Celebrate the season of love with a special 2-hour mixed-media workshop inspired by the iconic works of Gustav Klimt. In this pre-Valentine’s Day session, participants will explore Klimt’s luxurious use of gold, pattern, and expressive color while creating their own artwork celebrating love in its many forms—romantic partners, a mother and child, siblings, or meaningful connections of any kind.

Guided by a veteran art instructor Joann McDaniel, students will draw inspiration from Klimt’s masterpiece The Kiss along with several of his other tender figurative works. Using layered mixed-media techniques—such as collage, acrylic paint, metallic accents, and pattern design—each artist will craft a personal piece that radiates warmth, intimacy, and connection.
