In honor of Liberia Independence this week we’re highlighting all aspects of Liberian culture.

A Social Light Production is a platform that always highlights the Charlotte Liberian Community. Back in 2023 during the LIBAC festival, there was a live band experience that was epic! It took a collaboration of a lot of hands to bring this to fruition, but they pulled it off and it was amazing!

Kofi Creative Group & DJ Beezy teamed up with Liberian artist Togar Howard for an explosive performance featuring KCG live band. Performing that day behind the keys was a Liberian Super Power named JusPrince ❤️ Time will not allow us to give you the full rundown of his credentials, but just know he was an integral part of Liberian music, as well as the entertainment industry as a whole. While he is no longer with us, his contributions will forever echo within the Liberian Entertainment Industry.

As we celebrate our Independence Day, we appreciate the contributions, talent, and treasures of our community. We never know when it might be the last time we get a chance to do so.

A Social Light Production officially launched to the world in July of 2021. As a first generation Liberian-American, Johnette N. Karpeh took pride in having the best of both worlds. Her passion was to bridge the gap between both cultures for maximum value.

A Social Light Production kicked off with L.I.B. Perspectives Storytelling Series. A series of conversations centered around Liberians sharing their stories. Perhaps the topic she was most excited about was ”Coming to America: The Liberian Story”. Check out this brief interview Johnette did with Debbie Barcon Howard about coming to America and persevering. This conversation was a prelude to the official interview featuring four Liberians telling their stories of Coming to America from Liberia.

A Social Light Production was officially introduced to the world back in 2021, leading up to the July 26th festivities. As a first generation Liberian-American, Johnette N. Karpeh took pride in having the best of both worlds. Her passion was to bridge the gap between both cultures for maximum value all around.

A Social Light Production kicked off with the L.I.B. Perspectives Storytelling Series, “In The Middle”.

Legacy is the long lasting impact of a person's life.
A huge shout out to The Charlotte Soccer Family for holding down Johnette's Legacy. The first annual JK-African Nations Cup was a huge success! It was the epitome of her life's mission to connect the world through faith, culture and entertainment.

Sene-Gambia and Cameroon faced off in the championship game. Congratulations to Sene-Gambia for being the winners of the JK-African Nations Cup Tournament! A special thanks to Cameroon for making it to the championship. Much love and appreciation to all of the teams and all of the winners. We appreciate each and every one of you! Check out the highlights from the big game.

The Charlotte Soccer Family and the planning team did a phenomenal job organizing this tournament! Thank you for allowing Johnette's Legacy to continue to fly high!

On Saturday The Charlotte Soccer Family hosted the inaugural JK-African Nations Cup at Mallard Creek Park. The purpose of the tournament was to bring together African nations across Charlotte through the unifying spirit of football (soccer), while honoring the legacy of Johnette N. Karpeh.

We would like to send a MAJOR thank you to The Charlotte Soccer Family for organizing an outstanding tournament. A major thanks to the planning team, behind the scenes coordinators, the sponsors, teams, players, vendors and the community who made this tournament a success! We are grateful for every hand that went to work in honor of Johnette N. Karpeh's legacy.

A special congratulations to Sene-Gambia and Cameroon for making it to championship game. We wish them the best as they compete for the championship trophy.

After the main event, the party continued! Community coming together, culture standing tall, and wonderful connections being made. Then there was the "Big A*Z Picture" at the end that took a lot of coordination, but we made it happen.

LEVEL 5: THE 4.13 TRIBUTE HOUR

The main event of the entire party. Everyone was locked in and ready to celebrate our iconic and influential leader. It was only right for DJ Unique to do the honor of ushering in the Grand Birthday Tribute Hour.

He dropped the official Happy Birthday song by Remy Sahlomon and we danced! From the top level all the way to the bottom, we were led by John Karpeh in the Grand March. All in honor of a legacy that's still vibing! We celebrated 45 years of Community, Culture, and Connecting.
