The Charleston Youth Company Charleston Youth Company is a nonprofit youth musical theatre company for grades 1–12, founded in 1978. We train in vocal, dance, acting & stagecraft.

Our mission is to create success through performance by building leadership, confidence, teamwork & more The Charleston Youth Company, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Chuck Long. It grew from the seeds planted by parents who wanted a program where their children could come together weekly, learn about the arts, and experience performing while using their creativity. Forty-two years later there are 5 c

ompanies today-Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman and Technical-keeping the dream alive! Our mission is to be the highest quality performing arts company of the Greater Charleston Area comprised of 1st through 12th grade students with the support of their families and community members. This professionalism is accomplished through encouraging, developing, and utilizing artistic talent in music, voice, dance, art, drama, and technical production through cooperation, self-discipline, and teamwork. The C*C promotes integrity and self-confidence, fosters creativity, and encourages an appreciation of the arts. Today, Chuck Long is the Producer/Founder/CEO. Our staff includes: Tracy Duffy-Assistant to Producer, Emily Romer-Sr/Jr Co choreographer; Kelsey Ashy-Sr Co Choreographer; Sara Gamble-Freshman/Sophomore Choreographer, Chuck Long and Sara Gamble are the Vocal Directors for all Performing Companies, Brandon Robertson-Sound Engineer & Technical Director for staging and rigging, Tracy Duffy-Microphones, Harvey Rogers Technical Director and master builder. Support Staff: Bob Mays-Webmaster. We produce two major shows a year - The Winter Spectacular in late January and the Spring Spectacular in late April. C*C has been in residence at the historic College of Charleston Sottile Theatre for over 20 years. Don’t miss these amazing shows by some of the best developed talent you have ever seen! Ready to take your training to the next level? Senior Company performers are featured throughout our productions while building advanced skills in dance, acting, and vocal performance — plus leadership, confidence, and stage presence that lasts a lifetime.

🌟 JUNIOR COMPANY (Grades 5–8)
Grow your skills and step into the spotlight! Junior Company performers train in all areas of theatre while performing in major sections of each show — building confidence, creativity, and teamwork along the way.

🌟 SOPHOMORE COMPANY (Grades 1–5)
Start your theatre journey here! A fun, supportive introduction to performing where young stars build confidence, imagination, and a love for the stage 💫
