David Loar Performs “An Iliad”
“An Iliad,” by Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare, is an intense, dramatic 90-minute modern re-telling of Homer’s “Iliad” through the eyes and words of a single character known only as The Poet. The Poet dramatizes the 9-year siege of Troy, the epic conflict between Achilles and Hector, the tragic death of Achilles’ friend Patroclus, numerous battles between the Greeks and Trojans, and finally the death of Hector. “An Iliad” is a tour de force of memory and dramatic power, demanding versatility and intense commitment from the solo performer. David Loar has been working on his production of “An Iliad” since 2015 and first performed it in November, 2016, at the College of Charleston. “An Iliad” will enthrall and involve any audience, even those not familiar with Homer’s epic. David’s performance is available for booking by your cultural group, theatre, or school!
