Major infrastructure investments continue to strengthen the Charleston region’s position as a global logistics and manufacturing hub. 🚢

The South Carolina Ports Authority is expanding ro-ro operations at the North Charleston Terminal, adding new capacity to support the movement of wheeled cargo and enhance supply chain efficiency for manufacturers across the state.

The project, now under construction and expected to begin operations in 2027, will leverage existing rail connectivity through Palmetto Railways while creating additional capacity and flexibility for future cargo growth.

South Carolina already leads the nation in completed passenger vehicle export sales market share, and continued investments like this help ensure the region remains competitive for advanced manufacturing, automotive, and global trade industries.

What industries do you think stand to benefit most from continued port and logistics investment in the Charleston region? 👇
