Both of our newest exhibitions, “Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue” and “Coles County before 1860” will be on view to the public starting August 4th.

“Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue” weaves a story of agriculture and political intervention, as told through the eyes of the artists. Beginning with the U.S. Farm Crisis of the 1970s, this exhibition traces the experiences of farming—specifically of small-scale, family-farms—in relation to the U.S. foreign policy in Central America during the 1980s.

“Coles County Before 1860” presents the early history of Coles County, Illinois and its geographical history, as reflected through art, architectural photographs, maps, and recordings of folk music with roots from before 1860.

July is international Zine Month!

A zine is a self-published, often handmade, magazine or booklet focusing on a specific topic or theme. International Zine Month celebrates independent publishing and the important role zines have played in underground and alternative culture.

The Tarble’s Zine Library showcases a variety of handmade works and even allows visitors to make their own with take-home Zine Kits!
