Over the weekend, the CRHS Band proudly sent six exceptional students to Glenville State University for its 15th Annual Honor Band Festival. Chosen from across the state through a rigorous audition process, these musicians secured their chair placements—a testament to their skill, determination, and a touch of well-timed serendipity.
Pioneer Band:
Aiden Isaacs – 2nd Chair Euphonium - Junior
Kaylee Owsley – 4th Chair Flute - Junior
Lillie Smith – 13th Chair Percussion - Senior
Blue Band:
Shealeigh Boone – 1st Chair Tenor Sax - Sophomore
Jax Davis – 5th Chair Clarinet - Freshman
Sam Lockler – 7th Chair Percussion - Sophomore
In an impressive feat of focus—and quite possibly fueled by a generous dose of caffeine—the students prepared four to five pieces in under eight hours of rehearsal. Their Saturday afternoon performance not only concluded the festival on a vibrant high note but also proved that a little last-minute magic can create lasting memories.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Bone and Dr. Barr for inviting us to participate. Returning to campus was a treat, especially as it gave us the chance to reconnect with our distinguished alumni. It was heartening to see Derrick Lowe, a GSU Music graduate, and Jacob Thompson, who is set to graduate next week with a degree in Music Performance, exemplifying the enduring CRHS spirit.
Enjoy the snapshots from our adventure, and here’s to many more musical escapades that hit all the right notes!
