Senators and Guests,

Our semesterly Trophy Debate will be hosted today, April 20th, at 7:30 pm at the top of New West. This is our last public meeting of the semester.

The Trophy Debate has a very different format than our regular meetings. At the start of the meeting, all are invited to write resolutions (any topic of your choice, though most are rather light-hearted) and deposit them into the trophy. We will then proceed into a bracket-style tournament, in which pairs of speakers will challenge each other to a randomly drawn resolution. The crowd will decide the winner by popular vote. The last person standing wins it all!

There will be no PPMAs.

Guests are welcome and encouraged to speak in both portions!

Senators and Guests,

Our 11th and FINAL regular meeting this semester will be hosted today, April 13th, at 7:30 pm at the top of New West. Please join us in debating “Resolved: The United States government should ban commercial surrogacy.”

There will be two slated speakers in the affirmative and two in the negative. Then, anyone can come up to the podium to give a speech in favor of or against the resolution.

After the debate, we will have PPMAs (Papers, Petitions, Memorials, and Addresses) where anyone can get up and talk about whatever they want! This is your last chance to give a PPMA before the semester ends!

Guests are welcome and encouraged to speak in both portions!

Please join us on April 11 for The April Dance! This Saturday, the Societies are hosting our annual Spring Ball. Our theme this year is: “Fairy Tale Masquerade.” Please note that the theme should not have any influence on your attire; just wear your best and favorite semi-formal outfit!

Our 9th regular meeting will be hosted tomorrow, March 30th, at 7:30 pm at the top of New West. Please join us in debating “Resolved: An Extemporaneous!” The debate topic will be revealed at the meeting! The slated speakers will be sequestered before their speaking time, in order to ensure they have no prior knowledge of the topic before delivering their speeches .

There will be two slated speakers in the affirmative and two in the negative. Then, anyone can come up to the podium to give a speech in favor of or against the resolution.

After the debate, we will have PPMAs (Papers, Petitions, Memorials, and Addresses) where anyone can get up and talk about whatever they want!
