UNC Wordsmiths

We host monthly poetry open mics and slams for the University community at UNC-CH, in order to offer the campus community a way to let their voices be heard.

We also serve as the primary slam team of the University. UNC Wordsmiths is a student organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which has been founded for the purpose of hosting poetry events, functions, and initiatives on campus. We serve as the collegiate branch of Sacrificial Poets. Our objectives are to foster a free environment in order to encourage the expression of a c

reativity that is rampant within this institution and to capitalize on that creativity by offering an open and accepting place for all members of the University community to share their stories, ideas, and experiences through poetry. We consider ourselves to be a society of poets, and while a number of groups and individuals make up the poetry community, Wordsmiths is the medium by which to serve on the primary (CUPSI-oriented) slam team on campus.
