Calvin Curtis Corbin, 83, passed away on July 13, 2026.
He was born on April 8, 1943, near Brook, Indiana, to George Arthur Corbin and Betty Jean Vestal. Calvin was raised with a strong sense of duty, discipline, and service that remained with him throughout his life.
Calvin graduated from Eureka College where he played football. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he continued his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he contributed to multiple projects for the Department of Defense. His work reflected a lifelong commitment to supporting the nation’s military and infrastructure needs, and he retired after many years of dedicated service.
In retirement, Calvin enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an active member of the Ginger Creek Bridge Club, where he valued both the challenge of the game and the friendships it brought. He also enjoyed reading books, playing chess, and regular breakfasts with friends at The Original House of Pancakes, a tradition he looked forward to and cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Arthur Corbin and Betty Jean Vestal, and his sisters, Patricia French and Cindy Smith.
Calvin is survived by his siblings, Dan Corbin, Marsha Green, and Connie Palmer, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him with love and affection.
He will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his work, and his quiet, steady presence in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of integrity, loyalty, and kindness will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him
