Welcome to Central Drama - where all are welcome! The theatre troupe strives to produce at least one musical, one play, and one kids’ show every year. Students may, and are encouraged to, participate at all levels: acting, set building, lighting, sound, stage management, di
recting, hair and make-up, costuming, choreography, pit orchestra, and more. Central has a very active drama club and is a member of the International Thespian Society (Troupe #5981). In the last few years, Central has had the featured show at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival twice ("Sweeney Todd" and "A Chorus Line") and has taken students to the National Theatre Festival in Nebraska in 2013, 2015, and again in 2023 where students performed "Matilda." Central's productions are widely recognized as setting a high standard for excellence in high school theatre while striving to cultivate a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive space for all those who have an interest in theater.
